Presidential Ridge Relay Race

Postby EricGotthold on Sat Aug 09, 2008 7:26 am

Hey guys,

I'm sure some of you got this email from the Tufts Mountain Club regarding the PRRR.

The date for this year's race is October 4th, 2008. I would love to put an NHOC team together! I'm willing to head up the organization of this "trip" but I just wanted to get a census of who would be interested. ( note: the more the better!)

THE PRRR is an event put on by the Tufts Mountain Club and basically what it is a bunch of colleges organize "teams" to complete a relay race across 21 miles of the Presidential Range. Groups of at least 3from each team have to complete each leg ( last year was crawford notch to eisenhower, eisenhower to jefferson and jefferson out to pinkham notch) The race starts at like 530 AM and people have until that night to complete it. I was told it's not super competitive but still it sounds fun and plus you get to mingle with outing clubs from a bunch of different schools. As far as running goes, you don't really do any of that just fast hiking with light packs. The rules call for having some sort of support team who would meet you at certain check points. Plus we'd need people to do that and drive supplies and people from crawford to pinkham, to check points etc.

Theres a lot of simple details that need to be figured out but thats why I want to get the word out now so we can do this.

Hey all interested members

We're going to have a PRE-lay meeting in the NHOC office around 6:30 this coming Thursday ( 9/25). Basically we're going to try and hammer out the details about food, rides, who's doing what legs, and all that organizational jazz..

Hope to see you there!
