Death March Gear Review

Postby EricGotthold on Thu Nov 15, 2007 2:25 pm

Hello everyone,

Prior to the Death March, I participated in the first KEG and I picked up some sweet new gear and they deserve to be reviewed!

Mountain Hardware Powestretch Zip Fleece- awesome, awesome, awesome. This stretchy polartec fleece was a great outer layer for hiking. It kept me dry and warm. Did I mention that the Lava Red made my eyes really pop?

Patagonia Capilene 3 Bottoms- I'm sure everyone already knows how saweet patagonia gear is but let me just reiterate. These kept me warm and though they did get a little wet, they didn't lose their warm. Definetly a good investment.

Mountain Hardware Subzero Jacket- 650-fill Down jacket. It was really warm and it packs down to a really small size. The only downfall that I found was that it doesn't have a hood..bummer...

Adreneline Smartwool Light Cushion Socks- totally warm when wet and they make great mittens too! Probably too light for serious winter hiking but they worked nicely for me.

Balaclava- Probably one of my most favorite gear now. I rocked it all weekend and its so easy to adjust when you get too hot or too cold.

I understand that this is really basic gear review but whatev.

Yes, balaclavas can save your neck! (Right, Jim?) Thanks for the reviews, Eric. I'm glad to hear that you are pleased with what you bought!

OR gloves, all of them are amazing, infinitely guaranteed, they are the best, they make sick mittens too, and you can remove the liners and use the shells as work gloves:)

Second on the Mtn. Hrdwr. Sub-Zero jacket. I have one and it's sweet.
