2009 MWV Ice Fest

Postby ethatch on Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:14 pm

I'm planning on heading up to the valley for for the ice fest this year. Any one interested in going shoot me an email at elw33@unh if you have any questions. Here's some info Anne Skidmore provided including a discount for any group from the outing club.

The International Mountain Climbing School wants to invite members of UNH to the 16th Annual Mount Washington Valley Ice Festival this February 5-8th. Last year the event was completely revamped and we're back this year with even more clinics and events. We are also offering outing club members an even better deal than last year.

A group of five or more students will all get a 10% Discount. It doesn't matter what clinics you sign up for!

The industry's top companies including Mammut, Outdoor Research, Lowe Alpine, Asolo and more will be on hand to let you demo the latest technology all four days. Clinics for all abilities will be taught by guest guides such as Majka Burhardt, Kevin, Mahoney, Dean Lords, and Zoe Hart. We will have apres climbing hour on Friday and Saturday with beer from Tuckerman's Brewery (for of age participants) and Mammut is sponsoring the biggest dance party of the year, The Retro Knuckle Bash with the live band Audio Kickstand (retro climber costumes encouraged). Friday night will feature a slide show by Kevin Mahoney on his latest first ascent of the North Face of Kangtega (22,240ft) in Nepal and a dry tooling demo by the pros.

This is the premier event to brush up on your ice climbing and mountaineering skills and rub elbows with some of the sport's greatest athletes.

In order to solidify the 10% deal, we will need one contact person to gather everyone in the group. Please respond to this e mail to establish a contact.

Check out our website and blog for all the details! It's a really fun festival to attend for the free demos, the slideshow evening on Friday, and the Mammut party on Saturday night! (If you're over 21 we have free Tuckerman's beer for you!)
